Garnett, Pierce lead Celtics to victory over Grizzlies

Boston, MA, United States (AHN Sports) – Kevin Garnett scored 24 points and added nine rebounds to lead the Boston Celtics to a 98-80 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies Sunday afternoon.

Paul Pierce added 21 points for Boston, which has won four straight.

Pierce scored 10 of his points in the fourth quarter as Boston outscored Memphis, 29-19, to put the game away.

Chris Wilcox added 12 points and rookie JaJuan Johnson had 10, both off the bench for the Celtics, who offset 18 turnovers by holding the Grizzlies to 37 percent shooting (32-of-87).

Rudy Gay scored 21 points, including 14 in the third quarter, and O.J. Mayo added 15 for Memphis.

Boston led 24-16 after the first quarter before Mayo scored nine points in a 16-3 run by Memphis to open the second quarter that gave the Grizzlies a 32-27 lead.

Pierce and the Celtics fought back, using 16-2 spurt that included seven points by Pierce to give Boston a 43-35 edge at the half.
