Mobile, AL, United States (AHN Sports) – Ohio State running back Daniel Herron is making a positive impression on NFL personnel this week during practices for the Senior Bowl.
The former Buckeye has been among the standouts in the backfield, showing skill as both a runner and a receiver.
According to a report by NFL.com, Herron has impressed several RB coaches with his combination of speed, quickness and agility, and one NFC North offensive assistant cited him as the top runner in the game.
Herron has been most impressive as a receiver out of the backfield, catching the ball well with his hands and running polished routes.
Boise State running back Doug Martin has also opened eyes with his performance this week. He has impressed evaluators with his versatility and toughness as a playmaker in the backfield.
According to the NFL.com report, an AFC college scouting director compared him to Maurice Jones-Drew and Ray Rice, and envisions him blossoming into a productive feature back in a zone-based scheme.
The Senior Bowl will be played Saturday at Ladd-Peebles Stadium.
