Philipsburg Woman Suffers Moderate Injuries in Accident

MORRIS TOWNSHIP – A 55-year-old Philipsburg woman sustained moderate injuries following a single-vehicle accident at 6:35 a.m. Wednesday along state Route 53 in Morris Township, Clearfield County.

The Clearfield-based state police identified the woman as Janet L. Cole, 55, of Philipsburg. She was transported to the Altoona Hospital for further medical evaluation. She was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the accident.

According to the accident report, the Cole vehicle was traveling along SR 53 in the right lane when she lost control on the icy roadway. Her vehicle traveled off the east berm, down over a small embankment and overturned onto its roof.

Police were assisted by the Morris Township Volunteer Fire Department and Philipsburg Emergency Medical Services. PennDOT was notified of the icy road conditions.
