New York, NY, United States (AHN) – Lil’ Wayne launched his new line of streetwear last week at the Hotel Americano in Chelsea, New York.

The rap superstar dazzled reporters and a cadre of admirers in the hotel’s hip basement bar.

The lined dubbed “TRUKFIT” reflects the rapper’s eclectic tastes in sports culture, technology and music. Featured are camouflage cargo shorts, raglans, hats and video game graphic colorful T-shirts. More looks will be unveiled later in the month.

The line represents what the rapper represents: skate, street, pop, rock, country and youthful interest.

The name comes from his childhood days spent in the “hood” in New Orleans. The rapper explains that there was a guy who would sell knockoff items on a street cart and he and others would say that the guy had all the “truck-fit not the real sh*t” to whoever bought the “stuff.”

The TURKFIT line is set to launch on Jan. 25 and will be sold online at various vendors first. A full line is expected to follow with more retailers to carry the items.

Just a short while ago, Lil’ Wayne was serving an eight month sentence at Rikers Island, which he said was humbling. For his Manhattan launch, the rapper donned a hat which read “I’m Fresh.”
