CLEARFIELD – A harassment complaint has been filed against Clearfield County District Attorney William A. Shaw Jr.
According to court records, the complaint was filed by Pine Township resident Judy K. DuFour. She alleged that Shaw repeatedly drove by her house, frequently pointing a camera at her and her property. She alleged that when she’s outside, he points his cell phone at her and appears to take photos. The complaint indicates that she contacted the state police in Clearfield on March 2010. She states in her complaint she was advised there was nothing she could do. The complaint states the behavior has continued for over a year. She states in the complaint that Shaw’s alleged actions have scared her to the point where she will not stay in her residence overnight.
In a statemen to Gant, Shaw stated that he and Judy DuFour live on the same road near S.B. Elliott State Park.
Shaw said that in 1999, he prosecuted Tim DuFour for attempting to molest children. Shaw said after he was charged, he fled to Florida, where he was apprehended. Shaw said Tim DuFour was sentenced
Shaw said he was sentenced for criminal attempt statutory sexual assault, child pornography, indecent assault, and corruption of minors. He was classified as a sex offender for Megan’s law. He is currently serving a period of parole and is subject to the provisions of Megan’s law.Â
Shaw stated that when Tim DuFour was released, the state parole board approved his home in Olanta. Shaw said Tim DuFour married Judy, and asked the parole board to change his residence so he could live in Judy’s home. Shaw said the parole board denied his request because the home sits adjacent to Elliott State Park and it would be dangerous for children. Â
“Tim DuFour filed a motion asking the judge to approve a change of residence, said Shaw. “This occurred in January 2010. My office opposed the change because of the parole board’s determination. Multiple hearings were held on the issue during 2010.Â
“Ultimately Judge Ammerman issued an order placing a curfew on when DuFour cold be at the residence. He is not allowed to live there or stay overnight there. DuFour withdrew his motion in January 2011 and the curfew remains in place.Â
“Judy DuFour’s complaint was filed on Nov. 3 before the election. I believe it was done as revenge for opposing DuFour’s request to change his residence. I also believe that this was politically motivated to file the complaint 2 years after the fact on the eve of an election.
“Timothy DuFour is a convicted sex offender who I prosecuted. This complaint is an attempt to seek revenge on me for doing my job. I will always do my job, especially when it comes to protecting children.”
