Washington, D.C., United States (AHN) – President Barack Obama’s approval rating has fallen once again in a new nationwide poll.
The only good news for the White House is that Obama outperforms former House Speaker and Republican presidential hopeful Newt Gingrich.
The latest ABC News/Washington Post poll released Wednesday finds that for the first time, Obama’s negative ratings outweigh his positive support.
A slight majority of 49 percent of Americans now hold “unfavorable” views of Obama, compared to just 48 percent who hold “favorable” views. Days before Obama was sworn into office, 79 percent of Americans viewed him favorably.
Among Obama’s GOP rivals heading into 2012, Gingrich fares worse than the president. While 48 percent of voters dislike Gingrich, only 35 percent have favorable views; 13 percent lower than Obama.
