My mother sent me your obit, which I’ve had laying on my desk. I knew Billy when we were Progress carriers. I was just “a helper” when I started delivering papers, and Billy taught me “the art” of folding a newspaper. I remember him saying, “You just don’t fold and tuck. It’s an art, because it has to be aerodynamic and strong enough to throw it through a stiff breeze.” I know that sounds minor, but to a 10-year-old, it was imprinted enough to forever remember.
I also had the pleasure to know him personally through his sister Edith Merle and her family. And yes, even earning extra money picking potatoes at the Bell Farm in Grampion.
I haven’t seen you, Billy, in 20 years, but your picture brought back soooo many great memories and life’s experiences. It was an pleasure and honor to have you impact my life!
Rest in peace, Billy!!
