Armed Robbery Under Investigation in DuBois

DUBOIS – The DuBois City Police Department is investigating an armed robbery that occurred Monday morning.

According to a police report, officers were dispatched at 9:35 a.m. for a report of an armed robbery at Shankel’s Pharmacy on West Long Avenue. A white male, between 5 feet, 10 inches tall and 6 feet tall with a thin build and wearing a dark colored hoody, held the employees at the store at gunpoint. He left the business through the rear door and was last seen on Spruce Alley. He had prescription medication in his possession that he stole from the store.

A short time later, police were made aware of a hit-and-run near Charlie’s Alternator and Starter Shop on North Franklin Street. The suspect vehicle is described as an early 2000’s gold or tan Ford Taurus. Police said it struck a landscaping wall and sustained major front end damage but was able to drive away.

In the report, police stated they were not aware if both incidents are related, but continue to investigate both. Anyone with information about either incident is asked to contact police at 814-371-2323.
