DUBOIS – One of the two houses purchased by the City of DuBois has sold.  The second house is pending the resolution of the bidding process.

The house at 225 Morrison Avenue sold to Brooks Carr for $2,500 plus closing costs.  There were no other bidders.

The house at 6 Schaffer Road is still ongoing due to a second bid being entered.  The original bid was announced publically at the previous council meeting, $5,000 plus closing costs.  This would allow the city to break even.  A second bid was entered for $5,500 for the house.  City Solicitor Toni Cherry restated what she said at July 25 meeting, that it would only be fair for the original bidders to submit a new bid if a competitor showed interest.

As of Monday night’s meeting adjournment the council was still uncertain how the bidding process would continue.  Two option were suggest of either having each submit a second written bid or to just accept the bids orally.

“I think other people can get involved if they missed [the bidding],” said Cherry.

Cherry continued to say anyone else wishing to jump in should do so quickly.

Excellent! It is encouraging to see the fairness being employed with the bidding process, which may in turn end up netting the City additional revenue as well as improving the neighborhood! Win-Win for the city and the residents!
