CLEARFIELD – At Tuesday’s Lawrence Township Supervisors Meeting, Supervisor Chairman William Lawhead declared that the township needs to cut down the willow trees along Riverview Road before they eventually fall due to a storm. According to Lawhead, in the last storm branches were blown from the trees leading to sixteen hours of overtime for township employees and additional expenses from the fire department getting involved.
Twenty trees, described as hollow, remain standing and the township will begin taking steps have them removed. Supervisor Ed Brown wanted to see if the trees were on township property or not before progressing too far into the planning. The township has the ability to remove the trees even if they are not on township property. The property owner, if not the township, gets first claim to the wood on any tree larger than four inches.
