Speed Display Sign Placed in Union Township

May 25, 2011 at 4:42 AM by · Leave a Comment

CLEARFIELD – A radar-controlled speed display sign is in operation along Route 3040 (Alternate Route 220) in Union Township, Centre County.

The sign faces northbound traffic along Route 3040 just south of the intersection with Eagle Creek Lane. This section of the route is posted at 45 miles per hour.

The speed display signs will remain on location for approximately four weeks and will register the speeds of vehicles traveling along that section of roadway.

The speed display sign uses radar to determine the speeds of oncoming traffic.  Those vehicle speeds are then posted on the lighted section of the sign. Above the speed display is a speed limit sign showing the 45-mile-per-hour posted speed limit.

PennDOT reminds motorists they can log on to 511pa.com or call 511 from any phone to check traffic conditions before heading out.
