Vernon Wilks, 76 of Philipsburg, passed away on Jan. 17, 2011 at .M.S. Hershey Medical Center, Hershey, PA
Born March 11, 1934 in Ashland, he was the son of the late Henry & Emma (Martin) Wilks.
On November 20, 1952 in West Decatur, PA he wed Gail I. (Thompson) Wilks, who survives at home.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
He was a 1951 graduate of Philipsburg High School.
He had been employed by Wilks Coal Co., Operating Engineers, and was owner/operator of Wilks Tastee Freez.
He was a member of the First Church of Christ, Philipsburg.
He was a member of Philipsburg BPOE Lodge #1173, was a member and local chair of the Philipsburg/Centre County Republican Club, was the local chairman of the American Cancer Society drives, was founding member & former president of the Philipsburg sewer authority, was an original member & former president of the Harbor Inn’s Board of Trustees, was original member and former president of Junior Chamber of Commerce and was a member of the Gearhartville Sportsman Club.
He was very proud of his grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them.
Funeral Services will be held at the First Church of Christ, 1437 Tyrone Pike, Philipsburg, on Jan. 22 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Timothy D. Richmond officiating. Friends will be received at the David K. Dahlgren Funeral Home, 228 N. Centre St. Philipsburg, on Jan. 21 from 6-8 p.m. and at the First Church of Christ, 1437 Tyrone Pike, Philipsburg, on Jan. 22 from 10-11 a.m. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
