Baltimore, MD, United States (AHN) – A Baltimore City Police officer who was one of several responding to a large fight at a night club was shot dead in the early Sunday morning melee.
The officer, a 33-year-old man, has not been identified. He was an 11-year veteran of the force.
A civilian also died in the fight, and three women and another officer were wounded by gunfire outside the Club Select downtown Baltimore establishment.
The officers were called to a fight inside the club, which intensified and spilled out to the street, at about 1:15 a.m. Police spokesman Anthony Gugliemi told reporters that the fight was very large.
Gugliemi also said that some officers fired their weapons.
A local ABC News affiliate said police still don’t know how many civilians in the crowd fired their weapons.
