Phoenix, AZ, United States (AHN) – A case of rubber-necking turned deadly for two young children in Arizona over the weekend.
According to local media reports, a car driven by a woman and carrying a 13-month-old girl and a 3-week-old boy slowed down Saturday afternoon because a driver ahead of them was looking at a minor crash on the side of Interstate 10 in Phoenix.
A woman driving a minivan rear-ended the sedan and a tractor-trailer gas tanker slammed both vehicles from behind.
The woman driving the car and the babies, who were believed to be hers, were taken to the hospital. The woman is in serious condition, but the babies died at the hospital, according to a local Fox News station.
The driver of the minivan was also taken to the hospital. She is expected to survive.
Police told local media that they are looking for the driver of a white or gray Dodge Magnum for questioning.
