PHILIPSBURG – The state police in Philipsburg are asking for the public’s help in identifying suspects involved in a theft from a First Energy substation.

According to the state police in Philipsburg, someone entered a locked fence enclosure at the intersection of Pine Street and US Route 322. Once there the person(s) entered a storage trailer and removed five rolls of copper ground wire. Each roll contained four grounds, about 60-feet in length. The wire is about 3/4-inches in diameter and is wrapped in strands of smaller diameter wire. Police said the entire wire has a yellow coating on it.

Area recycling facilities are asked to be on the lookout for anyone trying to sell this type of wire.
