San Jose, CA, United States (AHN) – San Jose Sharks president and chief executive officer Greg Jamison, who has overseen the transformation of the club into one of the most respected and successful franchises in the NHL, announced Wednesday he is leaving the post.
On the club’s website, Jamison, 60, indicated he will continue to be involved with the hockey franchise, but will step away from his position and day-to-day operations of the team on Oct. 1.
The long-time Sharks president and CEO Jamison will remain part of the ownership. He will be the team’s representative on the NHL’s Board of Governors.
During his tenure, which began in 1996, the Sharks posted a 530-377-155 regular season record while HP Pavilion registered a sellout streak, becoming one of the busiest U.S. arenas.
The Sharks, under Jameson’s leadership, which spanned 13 seasons, reached the playoffs 11 times and captured five Pacific Division crowns in the past eight years.
San Jose also advanced to the Western Conference finals in 2004 and again this past spring.
In 2009, the Sharks won the President’s Trophy for the best record in the regular season.
The Sharks will be conducting a search for Jamison’s replacement soon.
