Marietta, GA, United States (AHN) – Two severely obese children were removed from their Marietta, GA. home this week and their parents arrested after authorities found the family living in squalor.

The older sister, 5, weighs 158 pounds, and her 4-year-old sister weighs more than 100 pounds.

The Atlanta Journal Constitution reports that the older sister could not walk far without wheezing, and police found her sibling drinking from a baby bottle while wearing a urine-soaked diaper.

The house was full of cockroaches and large spiders, according to arrest warrants released to the newspaper.

The warrants also stated that the older daughter had lice in her hair large enough for investigators, standing above the girl, to see.

Cobb County police arrested their parents, James and Anne Cardona, on child cruelty charges.

Anne Cardona’s mother was removed from the house and placed in a hospital. She was found with severe bed sores, according to the newspaper.

The girls were placed in state care and their parents ordered to have no contact with the children.
