Baltimore, MD, United States (AHN) – Baltimore Ravens starting cornerback Domonique Foxworth will miss the 2010 season after tearing his ACL during a non-contact drill during Thursday, it was reported Friday.
“It was unfortunate,” coach John Harbaugh told reporters Friday. “He wasn’t touched. There was no contact. He just planted the wrong way and the thing popped.”
Fabian Washington and Lardarius Webb are both coming off knee surgery, while free safety Ed Reed had offseason hip reconstruction.
With the Ravens allowing 207.2 yards per game last season and ranking eighth in pass defense-someone needs to step in.
“I can’t wait to see who steps up,” Harbaugh said about a replacement. “I can’t wait to see who it is that we’re all talking about a month from now that’s stepped up to fill that spot. We’re going to have a great defense.”
Foxworth started in 16 games during the 2009 season, and intercepted four passes while collecting 53 tackles.
“The thing I’m most disappointed in that sense is for Domonique,” Harbaugh said. “I was texting him last night back and forth, and he goes out of his way to tell me how sorry he is, and how disappointed he is that he let everybody down.”
