Morgantown, WV, United States (AHN) – The Mountaineers athletic program announced Friday basketball head coach Bob Huggins’ fall was due to the West Virginia native taking medication on an empty stomach.
Huggins, 56, stood up quickly, causing him to get lightheaded, trip and fall into a table in his Las Vegas hotel room.
Huggins broke seven ribs and had to rest in the hospital for several days following the incident.
The former Bearcats coach has a recent history of receiving odd injuries, suffering a pair of black eyes after walking into a door last summer.
A few years back, Huggins reportedly fell and hit his head after tripping on a cone on an airport tarmac.
The former Mountaineers guard and Morgantown native led West Virginia to a 31-7 record and appearance in the Final Four last season.
Huggins is 80-30 in three seasons with West Virginia and 670-241 overall in 22 seasons as a head coach.
