Los Angeles, CA, United States (AHN) – David Archuleta, named the “Best American Idol ever” in a Billboard readers poll, has revealed the title and release date for his sophomore album. “The Other Side of Down” is set to hit stores on September 14th.

“I’m really looking forward to releasing this album. Most of the songs on the album represent thoughts and experiences that I’ve personally gone through,” Archuleta said in a statement.

“I hope this album helps people understand more of where I’m coming from as an artist and as a person,” he continued. “It’s about moving forward in life, making progress in accomplishing your goals and dreams while appreciating what life has given you.”

“Something ‘Bout Love” is the first single to lead Archuleta’s new album. The dance-fueled track, produced by S*A*M & Sluggo (Katy Perry, Metro Station) and co-written by Archuleta, is a departure for the 19-year-old “Idol” runner-up.

The single will be available for digital download on July 20th. The track is available for listening online and is set to impact radio on August 2nd. A music video for “Something ‘Bout Love” is on the way and will be directed by Declan Whitebloom, who helmed Archuleta’s “Crush” video.

He also penned his first book, “Chords of Strength: A Memoir of Soul, Song, And The Power of Perseverance,” which was released this summer and is currently on a book signing tour.

Archuleta’s new album is the follow-up to his self-titled album released in 2008, and 2009’s “Christmas from the Heart.”
