CLEARFIELD – Five hundred Penelec customers were without power overnight Wednesday, as a result of the car/pole accident.
According to Penelec Manager External Affairs John Shimko, the accident occurred just after midnight when a car hit a utility pole on Cooper Rd. next to Lezzer Lumber.
As a result of the accident the pole was broken and crews were called in to make repairs, including the replacement of three transformers that were on the pole. The resulting power outage affected Penelec customers in the Susquehanna Ave. and Bloomington Hill areas. Penelec crews were able to restore power to 70 customers at 1:50 a.m. Power is expected to be restored to the remaining customers around 9:00 a.m.
