May A. Grenus, 86, of Clearfield, passed away on June 14, 2010 at Mt. Laurel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Mrs. Grenus was born on May 2, 1924 in Karthaus, the daughter of Charles R. Pitts, Jr., and Caroline A. (Hoffman) Pitts.

She was a 1943 graduate of Cooper Township High School.

Mrs. Grenus had been employed as a secretary for Slyvania Electric in Emporium from 1943 to 1945, Gilland Motor Company for eighteen years, Clearfield Gas for three years and Novey Recycling for twenty years.

She was a member of St. John Lutheran Chuch of Clearfield where she taught sunday school and religious education for fifteen years, managed church dinners for eighteen years, was on the committee for the friendship club, treasurer of WELCA and was on the Clearfield prayer chain committee.

Mrs. Grenus was a volunteer at Clearfield Hospital for eighteen years, secretary of Plymtonville PTO, social secretary for Lawrence Township Ladies Auxillary and Chaplin POA of Lawrence Township.

She is survived by three children; Linda Houchins and her husband Jack of Clearfield, Deborah Peters and her husband Randy of Curwensville and Anthony Grenus, Sr., and his wife Mary of Woodland, three grandchildren; Craig Houchins and his wife Kim of Clearfield, Anthony Grenus, Jr. and Jennifer Grenus both of Woodland and two great grandchildren; Stacey Ann Houchins and Tyler Houchins.

Mrs. Grenus was the last member of her generation having been preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Anthony Grenus whom she married on May 27, 1950 and who passed away on May 17, 1980, an infant sister, Mary Louise Pitts and an infant brother, Charles Thomas Pitts.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on June 17 at the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home, Inc., of Clearfield with Rev. David Letscher officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Karthaus.

At the request of Mrs. Grenus there will be no public visitation or viewing.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the St. John Lutheran Church, 217 E. Pine Street, Clearfield, PA 16830.
