New York, NY, United States (AHN) – Asr the Baltimore Orioles dropped 10 of their last 11 games and have struggled all season offensively, manager Dave Trembley is reportedly on the verge of being terminated.

Trembley, hired for his extensive Minor League work and emphasis on fundamentals, powerlessly watched winning pitcher CC Sabathia mow through his lineup as the New York Yankees completed a three-game sweep with a 6-3 win Thursday.

With the loss, the Orioles, who dropped to 15-39 overall, 6-25 on the road, finished a six-game road trip, 0-6.

As a result, the Orioles are expected to dismiss Trembley from his job prior to Friday’s series opener against the Boston Red Sox, the Baltimore Sun reported on its Web site.

The Sun report, citing sources, indicated that third-base coach and former All-Star Juan Samuel is expected to named interim manager when the move is made.

The club declined to comment on the reports.

Orioles president of baseball operations Andy MacPhail did not accompany the team to Toronto or New York.

Trembley, who was given a chance to help develop and nurture the Orioles’ growing young talent when he took over from Sam Perlozzo in 2007, has compiled a 187-283 mark during the past 2 1-2 seasons as manager.
