London, United Kingdom (AHN) – Amy Winehouse is not the only one in the family with a singing talent. Her 60-year-old dad Mitch has launched his first album “A Rush of Love to the Heart” in London on Wednesday.
Mitch, a cab driver, admits that he is cashing in on his Grammy Award-winning daughter’s fame, but he couldn’t help but take the opportunity when it presented itself.
He was quoted by BBC as saying, “Am I cashing in on it [being Amy's dad]? I suppose in a way, if the album sells, I will be. But that’s not why I’m doing it. I’m doing it because Amy and I spoke about doing an album years ago.”
“But you cannot deny the fact that I would not be bringing out an album if I wasn’t Amy’s dad. It’s true.”
Mitch also said that Amy was “barred” from appearing on the album.
The jazz album has 11 tracks, including four new songs written by Ton Hiller.
“A Rush of Love to the Heart” comes out next month.
