Phoenix, AZ, United States (AHN) – Amare Stoudemire had 23 points and 11 rebounds as Phoenix, draped in its Los Suns uniforms, took a 2-0 series lead in the Western semifinals with a 110-102 win over the San Antonio Spurs Wednesday night.
Channing Frye led a barrage from three, going 5-for-6 from behind the arc to finish with 15 points. The Suns used the three to pull away late and finished 9-for-19 (47 percent) from behind the arc.
Steve Nash and Jason Richardson scored 19 apiece and Grant Hill added 18 for Phoenix, which wore the Spanish language uniforms in part to protest the recent stiff immigration law passed in Arizona.
The game was tied at 51 at the half, but Phoenix barely edged the Spurs in the third quarter to carry a two-point lead into the fourth.
The Suns fell behind 80-78, but took the lead for good with 9:55 left on a three by Jared Dudley that put them 83-80.
Tim Duncan had 29 points and 10 rebounds and Tony Parker added 20 points to lead the Spurs, which tries to cut the series lead with a Game 3 win Friday night.
