Philadelphia, PA, United States (AHN) – Philadelphia Flyers goaltender Brian Boucher produced another stellar performance Tuesday, as he conceded only one goal in 31 attempts to defeat the New Jersey Devils 4-1 in the Eastern Conference quarterfinal series Tuesday.

The 33-year-old Boucher has been a huge factor in the playoff matchup, allowing only nine goals on the Devils’ 106 attempts throughout the first four games.

With his exceptional plays, the seventh-seeded Flyers drew closer to upsetting the second seeded Devils in their seven-game first-round series.

Drafted 22nd in 1995, Boucher waited four years before making his NHL debut with the Flyers in 1999-2000 season. He immediately made an impact on the Flyers’ roster, as he helped the Flyers lock in Eastern Conference and Atlantic Division title, while leading the league in goals against average at 1.91.

The Flyers would managed to reach the Eastern Conference Finals, but lost to the eventual 2000 Stanley Cup Champion’s, the New Jersey Devils.

The following season, Boucher saw his starting job taken away by an emerging Roman Čechmánek after a poor start.

Since then, Boucher has become a journey man in this league with several stops in Phoenix, Chicago, Columbus and San Jose.

Boucher also played for the Philadelphia Phantoms in the AHL, before he decided to rejoin the Flyers on a two-year contract this offseason.

Though he was never selected in an All-Star team, Boucher is considered as one of the premier goaltenders in the league.

He currently holds the record for the longest shutout streak in the NHL at 332 minutes (5 1/2 games).

With an upset about to unfold, Boucher and the Flyers get their first chance to close out the series in Thursday’s game five at the Prudential Center in New Jersey.
