Philadelphia, PA, United States (AHN) – The Sixers recently denied Tuesday a reported attempt to lure Charlotte Bobcats coach Larry Brown back to his old post in Philadelphia.

On Tuesday, Comcast-Spectator chairman Ed Snider referred to a New York Post report as “absolutely false”

Snider also indicated the Sixers had not contacted anyone at all about the position.

Brown, who is set to guide the six-year-old Bobcats to their first playoff berth, was reportedly given permission by team owner Michael Jordan to leave the organization for the 76ers after this season, according to the Post.

In the various reports, the 69-year-old Brown, who coached Philadelphia from 1997 to 2004, stated that Charlotte will be his last coaching stop.

He also indicated that he had already addressed Jordan’s earlier comments in the Charlotte Observer and other media outlets that he would be prevented from leaving for family reasons.

Brown’s wife and two teenage children continue to reside in the Philadelphia suburbs.

The 2002 Hall-of-Famer has been known for not staying for a long period for any team in his coaching career.

Brown will be leading Charlotte against the second-seeded Orlando Magic in the first round.
