Denver, CO, United States (AHN) – The Denver Nuggets, who are aiming to clinch their second straight Northwest Division title against the Phoenix Suns Tuesday, could reportedly get back coach George Karl by the second round of the NBA playoffs.
Karl has missed 17 of the past 18 Nuggets game as he deals with cancer.
According to his personal physician, Dr. Jacques Sarri, the 58-year-old coach’s treatment for squamous cell head/neck cancer has been “very positive”, the AOL Fanhouse reported on its website.
The report indicated that with the recent results, Karl’s chances of returning to coaching would be at “two-thirds.”
Sarri, in the report, added that Karl will definitely miss the first round of the playoffs.
The Nuggets lost a blowout to the Phoenix Suns 123-101 Tuesday night to finish the season 53-29. Denver can still grab the No. 4 seed if Phoenix defeats Utah, as the Nuggets own the tiebreaker over the Jazz.
