Fargo, ND, United States (AHN) – Jewel is preparing to release her ninth album and her second country album this summer. Jewel is also going on tour in support of her latest effort, “Sweet and Wild,” which is set to hit stores on June 8th.
Jewel released her first country album, “Perfectly Clear,” in 2008. Produced by John Rich of country duo Big & Rich, the album debuted at #1 on the Billboard country charts. Since releasing her first country set, she married longtime boyfriend and world champion rodeo cowboy Ty Murray. The new collection of songs finds Jewel singing about love and her newfound happiness.
She’s also hitting the road in support of the album with the Star Light Café tour, which finds her teaming up with Country Financial. The tour kicks off on June 1st in Fargo, ND and continues through June 27th in Seattle, WA.
“I am so excited to hit the road as part of the COUNTRY Financial Road Trips and Guitar Picks concert series,” said Jewel. “It gives me a great opportunity to spend some time with the fans. I’ve spent the better part of my year writing and recording this new album. There is nothing more rewarding for me than getting the chance to perform some of my new songs along with the hits I’ve had over the course of my career. These shows really become a sneak peek into my songwriting and my life.”
Radney Foster will open for Jewel on her 20-city trek. She’s also co-headlining her June 21st show in Boise, ID with Brandi Carlisle.
“There is no one better than Jewel at bringing the feel of an intimate living room setting to the theatre,” said Scott Borchetta, President of Jewel’s record label, The Valory Music Co. “With nothing more than her
acoustic guitar, witty storytelling and unmatched vocal ability, she brings you into the moment and keeps you there until the lights go up.”
“Sweet and Wild” is Jewel’s first album since last year’s “Lullaby,” which was a collection of lullabies for both children and adults. Her version of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” became a #1 Top Children’s Song.
