Quebec City, Canada (AHN) – Got a buck? A dollar could get you a ski hill and a golf course that the provincial government of Quebec owns.

The catch is simple- a buyer would need to put a nice security deposit and a five-year commitment to own the money-strapped facility.

The Mont Orford facility of eastern Quebec, an hour from Montreal, has cost the government about $2 million a year, since 2007, Environment Minister Line Beauchamp told the Montreal Gazette Wednesday.

The sale requires the highest bidder to put a $4 million deposit down along with a guarantee that the facilities will operate for five years."

"The 1,100 acres of land would also remain the property of the Quebec government," Beauchamp said.

Reports said that the province was unable to legally advertise the facility with public monies in order to compete with competitors.

There have been numerous environmental groups opposed to private owners buying the property, because the facilities rest on Mont Orford National Park.
