Gainesville, FL, United States (AHN) – A burglar met his match when he tried to break into the house of a man who is a confirmed black belt in martial arts.
When Gainesville, FL, police arrived at the residence of 26-year-old Mark-Jason “MJ” White, they found him guarding Christopher Brunson, 22, who had broken into White’s home. White is a master’s student at the University of Florida, but also has a second-degree black belt in Cuong Nhu, reports stated.
According to reports, White heard a noise downstairs where he and his two sisters live. He went down armed with a stick and a knife, both martial arts weapons, in time to see Brunson trying to climb through the window. White ordered Brunson on the ground. When he tried to get up, he struck him once on the back, just enough to render him helpless.
Authorities commended White on a job well done.
It is not clear why Brunson broke into White’s place, except he stated he thought White’s residence was his place – which is located four miles away, according to reports.
Brunson is a criminology student at the University of Florida.
