Salt Lake City, UT, United States (AHN) – Former NBA player Robert Whaley was arrested Thursday in Salt Lake County after police pulled him over and discovered several bags of marijuana hidden in his buttocks.

According to a report by the Salt Lake Tribune, the 27-year-old former Utah Jazz center, who was a passenger of a vehicle, was first given a minor citation by the Salt Lake County police for not wearing his seatbelt.

It was later discovered that Whaley was wanted for a probation violation, originally unknown by police because Whaley had reportedly given authorities a false identity.

Whaley is being held in jail on $100,000 bail.

According to the State of Michigan web site, the former Benton Harbor High School star basketball player has absconded from parole in that state for a 2008 conviction for maintaining a drug house.

Whaley is a second-round draft pick of the Jazz in 2005 and the only player to come out of Walsh College.

While with the Jazz, he played 23 tilts in 2006 before being traded in June of that year to the Toronto Raptors, who waived him before he played a game.
