Houston, TX, United States (AHN) – Continental Airlines will stop serving free food to economy class passengers on most domestic flights and some leisure flights to Canada, Latin America and the Caribbean.

The airlines will instead offer passengers the option of buying food on such flights. Free food will still be offered on business flights to such places as Mexico City, Mexico.

Airline officials cited economic pressures and also said that they were following the pattern most other airlines have already adopted.

However, the airline will still offer non-alcoholic beverages and snacks free.

Economy class passengers on some international flights, trans-Pacific and trans-Atlantic flights and South America, as well as domestic flights lasting longer than six hours will still get free food.
