Tornadoes Touch Down In Arkansas, Injuring Two

Little Rock, AR, United States (AHN) – A tornado watch has been lifted after a string of tornadoes tore through Arkansas early Thursday morning, destroying numerous houses and critically injuring two people, according to local weather reports.

Tthe National Weather Service said the first tornado touched down in Saline County approximately 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. The twister damaged nearly two dozen homes, according to reports by Arkansas Emergency Management.

A second tornado landed in White County at 9:25 p.m., damaging nice homes and injuring one person, reports stated.

The third twister hit nearby Cleburne County 40 minutes later. Emergency officials are still trying to assess the full extent of the damage, but said at least three people were injured and several homes destroyed, according to reports.

Central Arkansas was also pummeled by golf ball-sized hail and harsh thunderstorms, according to the National Weather Service.

Local forecasters determined the storm was headed east and should be out of the region by Thursday night.

As the weather front moved out of Arkansas, tornado watches went up for most of Mississippi, Tennessee and Kentucky, according to forecasters.
