Minneapolis, MN, United States (AHN) – The Denver Nuggets are trying to keep pressure on the struggling Lakers for the top spot in the West, but the conference’s worst team, Minnesota, is giving them all they can handle through two quarters.

The Timberwolves defense, which ranks second to last in the league, is the reason for their lead 53-48.  The Nuggets, who entered Wednesday’s game as the NBA’s second highest scoring team, are shooting just 44-percent from the field and are 1-8 from three-point range.

Carmelo Anthony leads Denver with 15 points.  Jonny Flynn and Kevin Love each have nine points for the Timberwolves.

Minnesota is without Ryan Hollins.  The NBA suspended the ‘Wolves center for two games on Wednesday after he was ejected from Monday’s loss to the Mavericks for punching DeShawn Stevenson and striking Dirk Nowitzki with a forearm.
