Daytona Beach, FL, United States (AHN) – After an on-track incident with Brad Keselowski last Sunday at Atlanta Motor Speedway NASCAR placed Carl Edwards on probation Tuesday for the next three series events.
Edwards received the punishment for a rule violation he committed and his probation will run until April 14 of this year.
He was found to have violated Section 12-1 (actions detrimental to stock car racing – aggressive driving) of the 2010 NASCAR rule book.
Edwards and Keselowski tangled both at Talladega and Memphis last season and Sunday the two got together again.
Keselowski got into Edwards early in the race, sending Edwards to the garage and taking him out of contention. With three laps to go in the race, Edwards retaliated by getting into Keselwoski’s back bumper. The contact sent Keselowski’s No. 12 Dodge upside down near the grandstands.
When Edwards was ordered off the track he compounded the fracture by driving the wrong way down pit road. Before entering the NASCAR trailer he admitted he and Keselowski have an issue and Keselowski called the incident “not cool.”
