Fake Grenade Causes Student’s Suspension

Kosciusko County, IN, United States (AHN) – A 14-year-old middle school boy was suspended Monday for bringing a hand grenade on school property, according to reports. The Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call from Milford Middle School after a teacher found the explosive in the student’s knapsack.

Upon arrival, a sheriff’s deputy concluded the device was not live, but said it was still went against Wawasee Community School rules, reports stated.

According to the student’s statement, the device was purchased by a family member at a recent gun and knife show. He said he put it in his bag and forgot to take it out before going to school.

The student reportedly showed the grenade to another student on the way to school. That student then contacted the authorities.

The boy has been temporarily suspended from school, according to reports.
