San Antonio, TX, United States (AHN) – San Antonio Spurs point guard Tony Parker suffered a broken bone in his right band in the Spurs’ 102-92 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies Saturday.
Parker, three-time NBA All-Star, could miss the remainder of the season due to the injury.
Reports indicated Parker sustained a fractured fourth metacarpal (ring finger) in the first half of the Spurs-Grizzlies game at the Fed Ex Forum.
Parker registered eight points, four assists, and five boards in 16 minutes of action.
Spurs coach Gregg Popovich confirmed the guard could miss at least six weeks.
The Spurs are currently on a four-game winning streak with a 36-24 record, seventh-best in the Western Conference standing.
Parker, the Spurs second leading scorer, averaged 16.5 points and 5.7 assists per game.
Popovich expects sophomore guard George Hill and veteran Roger Mason to step up in Parker’s absence.
