WHO Chief To Arrive In Bangladesh Sunday

Dhaka, Bangladesh (AHN) – Dr. Margaret Chan, director general of the World Health Organization, is scheduled to arrive in Dhaka Sunday on a two-day visit.
During the visit, Chan will highlight the WHO’s assistance to Bangladesh and discuss the country’s vaccine production capacity, the health impacts of climate change and community level micro-credit scheme in the South Asian country.
The WHO chief will meet Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Foreign Minister Dipur Moni, Health Minister AFM Ruhal Haque, Prime Minister’s Advisor Modassar Ali, State Minister for Health Captain (Retd.) Mujibur Rahman Fakir, other high officials and U.N. heads in Bangladesh, a WHO press statement sai
Chan will visit Cyclone Aila-affected Satkhira district and rural health activities at the community level at Jessore district. She is expected to visit micro-credit program of the national non-governmental organization BRAC at Chougacca upazila of Jessore district.
