Indianapolis, IN, United States (AHN) – The Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning had surgery to fix a pinched nerve in his neck, the team announced Wednesday. He’s expected to have a full recovery, and it will not interrupt the 2010 season, according to reports.
“This condition has existed intermittently for the past four years, but at no time did it interfere with his training, practice or playing regimen,” the Colts said in a news statement.
Manning spent Tuesday night in a Chicago hospital and was released Wednesday.
The team also said that the surgery should not hamper the four-time MVP’s offseason workouts or his ability to start next season.
Manning has started 210 straight games for the Colts, helping the team reach the playoffs eight consecutive seasons.
Manning also holds the NFL record for consecutive seasons with over 4,000 yards passing and the most total seasons with 4,000 or more yards passing.
