New York, NY, United States (CNS) – French luxury fashion house Louis Vuitton has filed a suit against Korean carmaker Hyundai over a Super Bowl commercial that features a basketball emblazoned with a logo similar to LV’s.
The label claims in its suit filed in the Manhattan federal court that Hyundai made “unauthorized use” of its trademarked symbols in the 30-second spot shown during the Super Bowl.
The said ad features a brown basketball that sports a noticeably similar LV logo on it. It premiered on February 7 during this year’s Super Bowl.
LV said that Hyundai is “tarnishing their inestimable value through impermissible association with products of inferior quality.”
It demanded that all of the car company’s profits from the commercials, along with the copies of the “offending commercial,” so they can be destroyed and never shown again, according to the suit obtained by New York Post.
