Auburn Hills, MI, United States (AHN) – After an embarrassing loss to the NBA-worst New Jersey Nets, the Boston Celtics bounced back to defeat the Detroit Pistons 105-100.
The teams had a back and forth battle in the first half. No team showed a true advantage as Boston (37-21) took an 55-52 advantage into halftime.
The Pistons (21-39) took advantage of poor shooting by Boston to pull within three and soon took the lead 75-72. They would carry this lead into the fourth period.
The Celtics opened the fourth period by taking the lead. Nate Robinson hit a pair of 3-points to put Boston ahead 89-81.
Detroit would pull within five with a minute remaining but could not take advantage of the opportunity, as Ben Wallace missed a pair of free throws. Wallace had to be helped off the court after the attempts due to a knee injury.
A late three could not help the Pistons as Boston clinched the game from the line.
