AUSTIN – Little Pine and Sinnemahoning State Parks are collaborating to offer a “Windows on the Wild: Biodiversity Basics” on Sept. 24 at the Western Clinton Sportsmen’s Association facility in Hyner, PA. This workshop is open to educators teaching at the middle school level only.
Pennsylvania’s Biodiveristy: The diversity of life is astounding and important to the health of the environment. Yet, biodiversity at all levels- genetic, species and ecosystem- is a current issue seldom addressed. In this workshop, participants will explore the diversity of local ecosystems, experience hands-on activities investigating the concepts of biodiversity, and examine local and global issues relating to biodiversity. By participating in this workshop, teachers will receive World Wildlife Fund’s Windows on the Wild –Biodiversity Basics student and teacher guides and the draft Pennsylvania supplemental guide to Windows on the Wild. Participants who complete the workshop will also receive 6.0 hours of continuing education credit for Act 48.
The cost for this workshop is $15.00 (payable to the Pennsylvania Game Commission), and pre-registration is required. Registration is limited to fifteen participants, on a first-come, first-served basis. A minimum of ten participants is required for this workshop, or it will be cancelled.
