LAJOSE – A Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal Unit initiated an investigation into the origin and cause of a fire that resulted in an estimated $70,000 worth of damage to a Thompsontown Road resident’s home at 12:47 a.m. Friday in LaJose, the Punxsutawney State Police reported.
Police said an arson investigation is currently ongoing.
According to police, the fire severely damaged the two-story, wood framed residence. Police said the fire originated in a second-floor closet and is currently classified as “incendiary.”
Police said that the house was occupied by three individuals at the time of the fire. Police said that they escaped injury.
Police were assisted at the scene by members of the Mahaffey and Irvona Volunteer Fire Departments.
