CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County District Attorney William A. Shaw Jr. announced after a formal arraignment that the commonwealth will seek the death penalty against a man accused of killing his mother over a computer.
Jesse James Campbell 20, is charged with criminal homicide, aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person and simple assault.
Campbell is accused of killing his mother Cindy Jo Coleman on March 13. Testimony at the preliminary hearing in April alleged that Campbell got into an argument with his mother then went to her apartment, choked her, bludgeoned her with a weight and cut her with a steak knife. Campbell’s girlfriend at the time testified that Campbell told her he heard his mother gurgle, that she wasn’t dead and that he sat down next to her and began reading her the Bible.
