The 2008 edition of the King of the Knob at the Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex will fly under the banner of the UFo Race Championship presented by Comcast. This 12th event takes the total Super Late Model prize money and contingencies to over $444,000 for the new tour.
The Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex is a 3/8 mile semi-banked oval promoted by Ron Brutt. The track is located in the scenic mountains of southwestern PA. The King of the Knob is the traditional season finale for the track, increasing in payoff and car count each season since its inception. This UFo Race Championship presented by Comcast event will be the first-ever Super Late Model tour event at Roaring Knob, taking the race to the next level. This year’s edition is scheduled for Saturday Night, September 6 and will pay $5,500 to win for the “Area 51”-lap championship. Jason Covert from York Haven, PA is the back-to-back defending event champion.
The UFo Race Championship Tour presented by Comcast is the region’s new racing alliance and now offers area Super Late Model teams over $444,000 of awards for the 2008 season, including $404,000 of cash prizes and points bonus money. This record amount of prize money is offered within a 125 mile radius. The tour has been designed to revitalize racing by offering maximum prize payoffs with minimum travel for the race teams and fans.
The season will kick off on Sunday, April 13 at the Challenger Raceway with the $5,000 to win PA State Short Track Championships. Challenger will also offer a $2,000 to win Super Late Model event on Saturday, April 12.
