CLEARFIELD – As winter loosens its grip across the region, motorists will begin to notice potholes along state roadways. Potholes are caused over time as winter weather conditions repeatedly freeze and thaw roadways.
Motorists can play an important role in helping PennDOT locate potholes by reporting pothole conditions. A call to 1-800-FIX ROAD (1-800-349-7623) will connect you with PennDOT Maintenance in the county you’re calling from and alert PennDOT to a pothole in need of repair.
When making a pothole complaint to PennDOT, callers should report potholes on state routes only, be as specific as possible when describing the location of the pothole, and leave their name and phone number for follow-up.
Motorists are also encouraged to use the 1-800-FIX-ROAD hotline to report other highway maintenance concerns. The hotline number should not be used to report traffic crashes, disabled vehicles, or other emergencies. Motorists should use 9-1-1 to report those types of emergencies.
