PHILIPSBURG- The Moshannon Valley Economic Development Partnership held its annual planning meeting on January 17 at the Moshannon Valley Regional Business Center, Enterprise Drive, Philipsburg.
“The annual meeting gives our board the opportunity to look at what we have accomplished in the previous year and what areas we need to focus on for the upcoming year,” said Jeff Mitchell, MVEDP Board President. “We have now conducted these meetings for twenty years as 2008 marks the twentieth year of the MVEDP,” he added.
The board set its 2008 plan of work to include: marketing the Moshannon Valley Regional Business Park, assisting in bringing healthcare back to the Moshannon Valley, marketing and renovating existing MVEDP properties, continuing the housing rehabilitation program, evaluating potential sites for future land acquisition, determining the needs of Resource Recovery and providing assistance if necessary, continuing to build on the successes of the Main Street Program, working with local elected officials, building on regional partnerships to plan for growth as I-99 opens, continuing our business retention and expansion program, and exploring a plan for developing waste coal reuse programs in the region.
“Our board is dedicated to the Moshannon Valley and that is clearly demonstrated through the work plan for this year,” said Stan LaFuria, Executive Director, MVEDP “We are fortunate to have committed volunteers who are knowledgeable about the area’s needs and are willing to take these issues head on.”
