DUBOIS – On Nov. 20, members of the Delta Mu Sigma Honor Society at Penn State DuBois presented nearly $700 to the local charitable organization, Caring and Sharing For Kids. This fall, Delta Mu Sigma organized two fundraisers to benefit Caring and Sharing for Kids, which provides aid to seriously ill, injured or disabled children in Clearfield, Jefferson and Elk Counties. For Halloween, students turned a campus building into a haunted house, and in November, they held a Dine Out night and Chinese Auction at Luigi’s Ristorante.
“It’s no coincidence that the charities we support are ones that help children in the community,” said Jody Lucas Kulakowski, Chair of Delta Mu Sigma. “Those children, with help, will be taking our places one day.”
Co-director of Caring and Sharing For Kids, Shirley Mauthe, accepted the check. “We appreciate this with all our hearts,” she told members of Delta Mu Sigma. “You have no idea how much this means.”
Mauthe says this donation will help to fund an annual Christmas party Caring and Sharing holds for the area children they assist. This year, 150 children from 68 families are expected to enjoy the party on December 16. Children will receive Christmas gifts and many families will receive gift cards to area grocery stores to assist them in preparing their holiday meal. More than 40 volunteers will donate their time at the event.
