Nationally Known Fly Fishing Author to Help Old Town Sportsmen

CLEARFIELD – This Saturday Charles R. Meck (Charlie) will have a silent auction for a guided fly-fishing day trip with him next May or June on the elite private waters of Spruce Creek. The total winning bid amount will be given to the Old Town Sportsman’s Club trout stocking program. Also his books will be for sale with his royalty proceeds from each book sold during the Saturday book signing to go to the Club’s trout stocking program. The book signing and auction benefit will take place this Saturday Oct. 13 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Jim’s Sports Center in downtown Clearfield.

Meck, a lifelong Pennsylvania resident and is the author of 13 successful books on fly-fishing plus he is a frequent writer for the Pennsylvania Angler and numerous other magazines on fishing. Charlie has fished virtually every trout stream in the state of Pennsylvania. He has also fished throughout the Mid-Atlantic States, Arizona and New Mexico.

When he is not fishing, he is writing, teaching or speaking. His numerous works include the third edition of ‘Trout Streams and Hatches of Pennsylvania,’ ‘Arizona Trout Streams and Their Hatches,’ ‘Mid-Atlantic Trout Streams and Their Hatches,’ ‘Fishing Small Streams with a Fly Rod,’ and ‘Meeting and Fishing the Hatches.’ His nation wide public appearances include book signings, seminars, workshops and Fly Fishing shows.

He lives in Pennsylvania Furnace, Pennsylvania and spends his winters fishing out of Mesa, Arizona.
